Welcome to Across the Blue Mountains

Our family moved to the Blue Mountains in 1973 and we have lived here ever since. bushland
The Blue Mountains have a rich natural and built heritage. Over the years we have written much about the area.

Jim has recorded a selection of his original songs on a CD entitled Across the Blue Mountains. This collection of songs was released in the year that Australians commemorated the bicentenary of the successful crossing of the Blue Mountains by Blaxland, Lawson and Wentworth in 1813.

On this site you'll find:

songs
articles
poetry
photographs
podcasts

video
interactive activities
reading material
resources related to the Blue Mountains and its surrounds
and more

We hope to add regularly to the site. Any feedback would be welcome.

Note to Parents and Teachers

Some of the songs have been used in schools and the ABC Sing! program. Jim also wrote a book for children on the crossing of the Blue Mountains which is still used in schools. The text of this book is now available for download on this site.

He worked for the NSW Department of School Education as a teacher and as a resource officer developing school learning materials.

The release of the CD Across the Blue Mountains wa an appropriate time to collect together and share some of the activities he developed over the years to encourage children to find out more about the Blue Mountains.

So feel free to dabble in the resources and use the material with your children. There are interactive sections as well as opportunities to download activity sheets. So have fun and visit us again as we continue to add to the site.

Your feedback too is always welcome.
