WHAT PEOPLE HAVE SAID
about Jim's music
Jim's songs deserve to be heard. They are genuine story songs that have a direct link to this land and this precious culture of ours. In many ways the songs link us to our history in the same way traditional songs served us in allowing us to record our emotional history.
I've been listening to Jim's songs for some years now and have been taken by his ability to create and sing songs that get to the heart of the story, entertain and beg to be listened to again..

Jim travels gently, digs out rich nuggets of Australiana, observes them acutely and with compassion, and then puts his historical vignettes to melodies that pass 'the old grey whistle test' with distinction. Go with him on his travels. I think you'll enjoy the journey.
- Gary Shearston
Thank you for your presentation. All our members had a positive experience …the way you told the story, relating it to you childhood and then sang about it was fantastic. It was a very moving story and members have said that they came away in a good relaxed mood, this was due to your whole presentation. You have a beautiful voice, a fantastic ability to write songs, and your playing of the guitar was tremendous.

It’s a great album, I love it.

Jim writes and sings songs about Australian characters and towns with the perception - and yearning – of a man in touch with the passing of a simpler time. His album, The Further I Travel, comes wrapped in the gentleness of a magpie greeting a country morning.
- Nigel Foote
Jim is a very accomplished singer songwriter.
- Ian Crombie
Jim is really a very fine Settler Culture Writer and the Gary Shearston influence, combined with his own experience as Country Teacher, gives the tracks a real authenticity that is sadly lacking in a lot of modern Country / Folk releases. I am enjoying this album immensely.
- Pat Drummond
“ETERNITY is a small word with a very big meaning. A big thank you to Jim for immortalizing “MR Eternity” in song.
- Raymond Phillips
Thank you very much for sending us ‘The Further I Travel’ and please congratulate Jim on it. Lovely to hear some music that you can hear the words of!! And also great to hear Chloe & Jason again! He will certainly be added to the catalogue and will go into our new program.

There is a freshness, honesty and integrity to Jim's CD which says a lot about Jim himself. Shining through are his passion, fascination and wonder with Australia, its history, its people and our fascinating stories - a desire to make sense of it all and take something forward.

The fact that Rouseabout Records have signed Jim to their label says a lot for his songs. Eric Bogle and Gary Shearston are also on this label. Congratulations Jim! ... The Further I Travel is an exceptional collection of Australian songs.
