SEVEN MEN AND FOUR HORSES
Seven men and four horses
Set out on their way
From Emu Island late in the day
To explore the Mountains to the west
To put their theory to the test.
With the Mountains before them
Crowding the sky
To cross this range they aim to try
On this the colony's future rests
Whether they can withstand the tests.
Six weeks' provisions they wisely have taken
Though many have failed
Their hopes are not shaken
More pasture for their cattle to run
Maybe this time success will come.
