LYRIC

TO CROSS THE MOUNTAINS

Chorus
We've come to cross the mountains
Which many others have tried
And we won't turn back
Until we've reached the other side.

Along winding ridges
Deep gullies by our side
We've come to make a crossing
To us it won't be denied.

We've marked our path quite carefully
Cutting bark from trees around
We'll tame this strange new country
And walk untraversed ground.

Our time is very precious
Our water supply is low
Moving stones and cutting brushwood
Makes our progress slow.

And sometimes in the evening
When it is getting dark
We sense somebody near us
And hear the wild dogs bark.

And then it is all over
The other side we see
And think of those going further
Prosperity there must be.
